Indian de-mocracy written in blood and betrayal: Indian Express

THE HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVE

How India occupied Kashmir

In the 14th century, Islam was the dominant religion in Kashmir and leading the Sufi-Islamic way of life, Muslims and Hindus of Kashmir lived in relative harmony. Rinchen Shah from Tibet attacked and killed the last Hindu King Ram Chand and married his daughter Kuta Rani. Famous Sufi Saint Bulbul Shah (Abdul Rahman) was able to persuade the king of the time Rinchan Shah, later this prince of Kashgar Ladakh took the name of Saddaruddin Shah, through his intellectual power to adopt Islamic way of life and the foundation of Sufiana composite culture was laid when Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists co-existed in the atmosphere of love and brotherhood. Another spiritual Saint, Mir Saeed Ali Hamdani reverently known as Shah Hamdan, through his spititual powers influenced people to heed the call of Islam and due to the nobility in his person, a huge majority accepted Islam. Mir Syed Ali Hamdani came to Kashmir in 1372 and then again in 1379 and 1384 during the reign of Sultan Qutubbuddin. He and his 700 followers (desciples) gave the call of Islam which was accepted by a majority of Hindus and Budhists.

Kashmir is famous for its exquisite handicrafts like woollen and silk carpets, felt Numdha rugs, Chain stitch rugs, pin point tapestry, crewel drapery and huge lot of other items Kashmir Art It is a treat for animal lovers and bird watchers to visit Kashmir and apart from the local habitat, animals and birds, you get to watch vareity of migratory birds Kashmir Wild Life

Most of the Kashmiri people work on farms. Others are engaged in small cottage industries making shawls, rugs and carpets. Kashmir is well known for its wool and, in particular, its shawls, carpets and silk products. Much of the farmland is under intense cultivation, producing corn, wheat, rice and saffron amongst other crops. Fruit and nuts are also produced in quantities including pears, apples, walnuts, cherries, apricot and almonds etc.

Kashmiris by nature are non-violent, through centuries; they have lived peacefully in spite of the political intrigues and subjugation by outside forces and subjecting the whole population to torture, inhuman treatment and humiliation. This heaven on earth is in flames; its people, history, culture and beauty are being systematically destroyed, the world community, unfortunately is helplessly watching to see the generations wiped out and has done very little so far to help bring an end to the ordeal of Kashmir. About 16 million people live in occupied Kashmir, of which around 70% are Muslims. The rest include Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and a small minority of Christians. Hindus live mostly in the south and around the city of Jammu. To the east is the Ladakh region and its capital Leh has the majority of Buddhists of Tibetan origin. Ladakh includes a vast area of Kargil inhabited by the Muslim majority

HISTORICAL LALCHOWK

Nehru played deadly politics in Kashmir

Pandit Nehru used Sheikh Abdullah to emotionally control the malevolent Kashmiri population to gain time to have full military grip on Kashmir. He kept Sheikh busy playing unnecessary politics with Kashmir Maharaja and made sure that Sheikh remains unaware of the masacres taking place beyond Udhampur in Jammu. Hindus backed by Dogra forces were on a murder hunt killing more than 600,000 men, women and children converting Muslim majority Jammu into a minority.

Pandit Nehru, India´s first Prime Minister, addressing people of Kashmir in capital city Srinagar and said "we have not come to stay". Nehru was emotionally blackmailed and exploited by his fellow Pandits and the elite group of Pandits managed to brain-wash him and made him commit many blunders.

A huge majority of people in the sub-continent are peace loving and feel that animosity and hatred, created by religious zealots in general and politicians to stay in power in particular, caused lot of damage to a common man.The saner elements are busy making an effort to bring people together to create an atmosphere of friendly relations and all realise that Kashmir problem needs to be resolved as per the wish of the people of Kashmir. The prevailing situation is a direct result of two nuclear countries fighting wars and people of Kashmir as such have had no role to play to complicate the situation.

India and Pakistan fought three full scale wars [India fought fourth war with China in 1962]. In October, 1947, due to Pathan invasion Pakistan managed to occupy 40% of Kashmir State. Fierce battles were fought in September 1965 at Chamb, Jurian, Akhnoor with no positive results for either side.

GANDHI AND KASHMIR

In a distribution of work, a plan to annex Kashmir was drafted and in the plot Gandhi was alloted the role to take Sheikh Abdullah´s wife Jehanara Begum and daughter Khalida Shah into confidence. Gandhi visited downtown residence of Sheikh in Saura locality and mesmerised the ladies with his non-violence and Bapu legerdemain. Nehru assumed the role of tackling Abdullah which he fulfilled with precision and utmost expertise. The third and final part was played by British groomed bureaucrat VP Menon and Kashmir´'s imposed prime minister MC Mahajan to subdue Maharaja Hari Singh. Maharaja had already fled to Jammu with all his possessions and had little choice but to crack under the pressure of the powerful duo.

The armed forces in both India and Pakistan at the time of conflict in 1947-48 were still led by British officers and the critical defense committee of the Indian cabinet was presided over by none other than Lord Mountbatten. British generals in India and Pakistan maintained informal channels of communication on Kashmir developments. General Douglas Gracey’s telegram of 24 October finds a place in every account of the history of Kashmir, less well known is the fact that he had informed Indian’ commander-in-chief Gen Lockhart about preparations for the invasion even before October 24.

Days before Pathan tribal invasion, India had already managed to station Maharaja Patiala´s elite force at Srinagar Airport to guard it from any aggression. The air-lifted Indian 1 Sikh on 26th October, 1947 was surprised to see the job already done, a very pleasant welcome situation. The purport ´Instrument of Accession´ did not exist anywhere before above mentioned Pathan invasion. Kashmiris have been fighting Indian Army right from the day when Sheikh Abdullah on 9th of August 1953 was removed as Prime Minister of Kashmir, charged with sedition and treason, imprisoned for eleven years in Kud jail near Jammu and later externed to South Indian city of Kodaikanal, finally shifted to Kotla lane in Delhi.  It started off with stones and brickes filling their own graveyards and in 1989 the armed uprising became altogether a different story.

The Pathan invasion had become a necessity as Indian forces had already landed in Kashmir. But still if Pakistan army had extended support to Pathan tribals Kashmir would have fallen into Pakistan´s lap unhindered and Indian army would never be able to land its troops in Kashmir. Later Pakistan army intervention managed to stop Indian army advance at Uri which paved the way for LINE OF CONTROL between the two countries.

Mountbatten messed up Kashmir

Maharaja Sir Hari Singh supported by his Prime Minister Ram Chand Kak with all determined intent to maintain the status quo of sovereign independent status of Kashmir. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, a master politician, managed to put Lord Mountbatten on his side; first by befriending Lady Edwina Mountbatten and then successfully roping in Sheikh Abdullah to convince Lord Mountbatten that Sheikh was on their side and was against Muslim Pakistan.

Sheikh, released from Maharaja´s prison was lodged at Nehru´s Delhi residence at 17 York road. Sheikh found himself in the company of Lord Mountbatten, Sardar Baldev Singh, V.P.Menon, Dwarkanath Kachru, Mehr Chand Mahajan, the imposed Prime Minister (a trusted man of Pandit Nehru and one of the members of Boundary Commission headed by Radclliffe to decide the fate of Gurdaspur) got overwhelmed and could not understand the gameplan. The rug pulled from under his feet, Sheikh could do nothing as he was removed from office and sent to prison and by then V.P.Menon and Mehr Chand Mahajan had stage managed the drama to get the accession document signed from Maharaja in Jammu palace.

KASHMIR MAHARAJAS, THE DESPOTS

The 16th of March, 1846 was the fateful day when Kashmir was sold by British to ruthless Maharajah Gulab Singh for a paltry sum of Rs.75,00,000.00 (Nanakshahi Rupees seventy five Lakhs) which if converted at the current rate of exchange in Sterling Pounds amounts to a meagre sum of approximately 93,750.00.

THE DESPOTIC RULE OF DOGRA DYNASTY

THE NEW SUPER POWER OF MAO TSE TUNG

Allama Iqbal a visionary, philosopher and poet of the east predicted about the nation awakened to start a new struggle under the chairmanship of Mao Tse Tung. A people infested with widespread drug addiction and laziness. Enslaved by imperialist powers so poverty stricken that a handful grain of rice would be enough to trade their boys and girls to force them into prostitution. The transformation by laying the foundation in the fields of culture, technology and economy did cost, as is believed, a number of deaths but in the end led the country to become one of the major world powers. Allama´s futuristic view of this erstwhile sedated nation is expressed in his couplet.

Chairman Mao is quoted to be neutral as far as Kashmir imbroglio is concerned. It could at least be a factual position before or during the hindi chini bhai bhai (brotherly) affair' but after 1962 war won decisively by China; the whole political scenario changed dramatically. India winning the war in 1971 with Pakistan creating a sovereign nation of Bangladesh disturbed the balance of power in the Pakistani sub-continent. China befriending Pakistan supported it to become nuclear and succeeded in their plan to keep India busy and entangled with Pakistan leaving no time for India to worry about China. China busy building up their own economy and military might were uninterrupted to gain time to evolve a strategy to deal with the games played by big powers on the international level. Now in 2020-21 India gets a special treatment from Ladakh to the Chicken Neck and India feels hunky-dory.

GONE AND FORGOTTEN

Hindu fundamentalists in India are now petrified that international players may want to participate in their hyped up Kashmir imbroglio. This will put paid to a cross border imported terrorism bogey and focus attention on renewed Zionist type oppression in Kashmir: Kobi Wolf in Tel Aviv tells the story:

THE STORY OF DISAPPEARED PEOPLE IN KASHMIR

THE STATE COARSENED AND COMPROMISED

The Indian government has 600,000 army and security forces in Kashmir their ubiquitous presence has coarsened the city and compromised whatever beauty it might have had. Apart from bunkers and armoured patrol cars, there are barbed wired and sandbagged surveillance posts, sports pitches that have been turned into army camps, and I'm told there's is not a single cinema operating in Kashmir's capital now. All have been requisitioned for military accommodation. Michael Palin

THE MILITARY OCCUPATION BY PALIN

YUSUF SHAH CHAK OF INDEPENDENT KASHMIR

"In no part of the subcontinent does history matter as much as it does in Kashmir. Equally, no other part has had such roaring exchanges with foreign powers, defying the British rulers, as did the maharaja and people of Kashmir. Emperor Akbar is admired throughout the subcontinent. But Kashmiris hate him for destroying their independence by invading and annexing their land in 1586. He lured its last ruler, Yusuf Chak, to India and had him killed. He is buried in Bihar. Mughal armies were pelted with stones, a time-hallowed weapon against oppressors"

THE LAST KASHMIR KING

CREDIBILITY OF "INCREDIBLE INDIA"

One morning of Dec-Jan 1990, notorious Indian CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) knock at the door of Abdul Ahad Bhat of Batmaloo, Srinagar and demand the TV set to watch their favourite program Ramayana. The lady of the house opens the door to find uniformed armed infantry men staring at her with the demand and the next minute she collapses and is rushed by her relations to the hospital to be declared dead. In Kashmir incredible India does such miracles on daily basis.
